CITY GENERAL ELECTION
The City of St. Hedwig holds its Regular Election every year on the first Saturday of May at:

The office of Mayor and City Council Place 2 and 4, are up for election on even numbered years.
The office of City Council Place 1, 3 and 5, are up for election on odd numbered years.
All elected officials serve two-year terms.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE
Candidates must meet the following qualifications per Type A City, Local Gov’t Code, Section 22.032,
and all other eligibility requirements of the Texas Election Code and Local Government Code.

  1. RESIDENCY:
    MAYOR
    One (1) year in the State of Texas prior to filing deadline and
    One (1) year in the City of St. Hedwig (within the city limits) prior to election day.
    CITY COUNCIL
    One (1) year in the State of Texas prior to the filing deadline and
    Six (6) months in the City of St. Hedwig (within the city limits) prior to the filing deadline.
  2. AGE: Minimum age of 18.
  3. REGISTERED VOTER: Must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline.

CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD
The first day to file an application for a place on the ballot is the 30th day before the filing deadline.
The last day (filing deadline) to file an application for a place on the ballot is the 78th day before election day, 5:00 p.m.
